Stamps
Welcome to the BellaOnline Stamp Collecting Website. I’m the new stamp collecting editor. Stamp collecting is a popular and exciting hobby that is relatively easy and inexpensive to start. If you are considering starting your own collection or you have inherited or otherwise come into possession of an existing collection, you are ready to begin a journey that is sure to entertain and educate you.

Stamp collecting is an excellent way to satisfy the urge to explore, collect, and learn without the danger or expense of traveling the globe.

One key to stamp collecting is to choose a theme to base your collection on. You may choose to collect stamps from around the world—or develop a collection of stamps from a particular country. Any of these collections can be started with little or no investment.

Once you have chosen a theme you should start researching the stamps and their history with a book. Learn as much as possible about your chosen stamps. This will not only help you to become knowledgeable about your collection, but it will help protect you from unscrupulous sellers who may inflate the value of their stamps. Absorb your topic and you may even find there are specific time periods or more specific themes or series within a group that you may want to focus on.

You can find sources for buying stamps almost everywhere; however you can be easily taken advantage of because of a lack of knowledge about the value of a stamp.

Nearly ever month, the United States Post Office offers a new selection of collectible stamps. Every year someone or some subject is honored with a new stamp offering.

There are stamp dealers and shows where you can find knowledgeable collectors who can help you find what you need and can give you advice on furthering your collection. Be wary of sellers at flea markets, antique shops, or other on-targeted markets where the seller may inflate their prices or sell problem stamps to unknowledgeable customers. Many of these sellers are even less knowledgeable about stamps than the beginning collectors they sell to. The same risk can come from mail order or online purchases. Knowledge is your best insurance when dealing with these dealers. Use businesses referenced in stamp collecting publications or from other collectors who you trust.

My name is Gary; I am the new editor for the stamp collecting site. I live in Mid-Missouri with my wife of 27 years. I am still working on some ideas for this site. I am always open to suggestions from you the readers, so please send me your comments. If they are good ones they will be incorporated into the content. My goal is to offer information that collectors of all experience can use. So send me your suggestions, comments, or whatever. Together we can build a great site.
